Golden Age of Versailles, a French course taught by Professor Laurie Postlewate, explores the cultural production emanating from the court of Louis XIV at Versailles. The course combines the reading of literary texts with consideration of the arts, architecture, dance, and music
Students also learn web development skills, through a partnership with IMATS (Instructional Media and Technology Services) and the Digital Humanities Center. Then, they create websites that share their research into Versailles. Below, the student-created projects for Spring 2020:
- Le Siecle de Louis le Grand by María Álvarez and Xiaoming Zhang
- Manière de montrer les jardins de Versailles by Sophie Battat and Brenda Huang
- La Promenade de Versailles (1669) by Antonia Bentel and Mariah Rust
- Suite du Voyage des Ambassadeurs de Siam en France by Maya Corral and Carla Melaco
- Les Amours de Psyché et de Cupidon by Camille Marchini and Elizabeth Meyer
- La Promenade de Versailles by Rachel Van Vort and Lisa Sholomon
